| 2008-03-27 Former Jr"B" Player signs with NHL's Ottawa Senators |
The Ottawa Senators announced today they have signed free-agent forward and Long Sault, Ont., native Jesse Winchester to a one-year contract.
Winchester, 24, spent the last four seasons playing for the Colgate University Red Raiders of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Association (ECAC). In 40 games with the Red Raiders this season, he scored eight goals and added a team- and league-leading 29 assists for 37 points. Winchester, Colgate’s team captain for the 2007-08 season, was named as the ECAC’s player of the week on two occasions this season.
The 6’1”, 215-pound forward played in 143 games over his four-year career at Colgate, scoring 40 goals and adding 74 assists for 114 points while adding 158 penalty minutes.
Winchester spent much of his amateur hockey career in the Ottawa area, playing for the Cornwall Colts of the Central Junior Hockey League before attending Colgate. In his final season with Cornwall, he was named team MVP, scoring 23 goals and adding a league-leading 59 assists for 82 points in 54 games. Prior to playing with Cornwall, he played for the Winchester Hawks of the Eastern Ontario Junior B Hockey League.

| 2008-01-22 Bursary for Post-Secondary Education |
B.F.Lorenzetti and Associates Inc., the insurance brokers of Hockey Canada have made a commitment to provide each branch with a $1,000 bursary. This bursary should go to a hockey player about to enter or already enrolled in a post-secondary institution. The player should be Midget or Junior hockey level and also combine a high level of playing ability with a strong scholastic record.
If you are aware of anyone in your organization that you think is deserving, please encourage them to apply. The application process is quite simple. Any qualified persons should send the following to the attention of Jeff Baker, Technical Coordinator, ODHA Office:
1. Past two years reports cards;
2. Past three seasons playing history;
3. The names, addresses and two phone numbers of at least two reference--one scholastic and one hockey;
4. A letter (500 words or less) explaining why they feel that they deserve to receive the bursary.
The deadline for applications to be received is March 31st, 2008 at 11:59 pm.
The bursary will be presented to the player at the ODHA Annual General Meeting on Saturday,
June 21, 2008. |

| 2008-01-18 Metcalfe Jets and Manotick Shiverfest |
The Metcalfe Jets are supporting the local community winter Shiverfest by playing a regular season game in Manotick on January 25th against the Clarence Castors.
The players from the Metcalfe Jets will also be assisting in the activities of the week-end by supplying our captains for the opening ceremonies on the 25th and a "Shinny with the Jets" session on the 26th as well as supplying Jets to staff the Murder mystery dinner and dance on the 26th. |

| 2008-01-18 Metro-Valley All Star Teams Announced |
The EOJBHL has announced the players selected to the 2007-08 Prospects and Veterans All Star Teams for the February 2nd showdown in Buckingham QC.
For just $10 for adults and $6 for students, come out and watch both games, showcasing the best of the EOJBHL Metro-Valley Divisions. Game time for the Prospects is 10:30am and for the Veterans is 1:30pm. Remember, one low price gets you in the stands for both games.

| 2008-01-05 Educational Bursaries Available--Why not Apply? |
Gabriel Pizza, one of the ODHA’s sponsors will be providing a $500.00 bursary for one Branch member graduating from high school in the spring of 2008. A Gabriel Pizza representative will present the award at the 2007/08 AGM in June 2008.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
· All members of the Branch and in good standing, are eligible to apply;
· You must be graduating from high school in 2008;
· You must be pursuing a career requiring further education or training (e.g. university, college, trade school etc.).
HOW TO APPLY
Complete an application form and forward it with the required attachments to the ODHA office to my attention.
APPLICATION DEADLINE
All applications must be received in the Branch office no later than midnight April 30, 2008. Late or incomplete applications (a missing attachment will be considered as an incomplete application) will not be considered.
The successful applicants will be notified by May 31, 2008 and will be required to attend the AGM presentation. The decision will be made by the Branch Marketing Committee and will not be subject to review.

| 2007-12-27 Alexandria Glens wins the 34th Annual Boxing Day Tournament |
With a 1-0 victory over the Carleton Place Kings, the Alexandria Glens follow up thier 2006-07 EOJBHL Championship with a win at the 2007 Boxing Day Tournament.
The Glens went 3-0 in the tournament, with a 6-2 win over the Ottawa West Golden Knights and a convincing 9-3 semi-final win over the Rideau Division leading Athens Aeros.
To get to the finals, the CP Kings beat the South Grenville Rangers 6-1 and then narrowly defeated the St Lawrence Division leading Winchester Hawks by a score of 3-2.
Congratulations to the Alexandria Glens and all participating teams. Next up in the EOJBHL will be the Rideau-St Lawrence Showcase on January 12th and the Metro Valley All Star Games on February 2nd. |
